2 Good Reasons for Email Marketing

We invest a lot of time into designing, writing and building out our websites and Facebook pages. We can measure some results by how much traffic we have or how many Likes we received. And though I’m a huge fan of Facebook, there is a key piece to the puzzle you should not overlook.

Email Marketing

Email marketing, using a service like AddressTwo, Constant Contact or MailChimp has two primary advantages.

  1. Capturing an email address is gold when it comes to internet marketing. It is the direct line into the prospects mailbox. With an email marketing program like one of the aforementioned services, you would create an Opt-In subscription box which you can use on both your website and your Facebook page. From there the visitor opts in to your mailing list, essentially requesting you to educate them on your industry and expertise.
  2. The second reason is that you have direct access to continue to build your relationship. You don’t have to rely on them revisiting your site, you can email them and invite them back for particular content. It’s a great way to distribute your blog content. Just put the beginning of a blog post in and then link back to the article on your website. Now you’re driving traffic to your site and continuing to build your relationship. Many sites offer something for free to entice them to submit their email address. But if you can only offer a regular mailing of educational and informational content, then that is okay. You can develop a freebie as you grow in your marketing efforts.

We’ll be discussing the variety of content and the frequency in later posts. For now, be sure to register for an email service, I’ve provided links to my affiliate accounts and would be happy to help you execute your new email marketing strategy.

How often do you send emails? Which services have you used and why do you like them? Please leave a comment.

Facebook Posts Mystery Revealed

I know some of you have done a spectacular job of setting up your Facebook page but then get stuck for what to post.  The primary objective for your Facebook page is to get engagement with your fans. There are many reasons why this is important.

  1. It’s social media so having a two-way conversation is a big deal. Getting an ongoing opportunity to talk with your market is crucial.
  2. Each time someone engages on your page either by “LIKE”ing your page, comment, post etc Facebook will send a feed out to their friends indicating their LIKING of your content.
  3. When you talk with one person, all your fans see the content so you are speaking with many instead of just one person on the phone.

Facebook Posts – What to post?

You probably know it can be text, a link, photo or video. But what is the strategy for getting the engagement that is so critical to the Facebook marketing success?

You want to ask questions or get a discussion going. Maybe you have photos of your product being used by your clients. Get the client to tag themselves. I think it is important to be cautious about tagging people yourself.  Host a contest. Host a question a week and provide your expertise to the topic. Ask for more feedback or ideas from your fanbase.

I’ve created a 20+ Facebook Updates service to send you an idea a day for what you could post. I invite you to take advantage of this free resource. Let me know if you have additional ideas we can add to the list.

LinkedIn a Powerful Business Development Tool

Business Networking from TheChamberAlliance.com

Business Networking from TheChamberAlliance.com

Recently I used the new Questions feature on Facebook to gauge what social media marketing tools are producing business for my fan base.

I was not too surprised to see that LinkedIn and Facebook are being used successfully.

LinkedIn Groups

Aside from engaging with your current network of connections on LinkedIn, have you interacted within groups where your prospects might be members? Try this. Join a group that has a large collection of LinkedIn members in your geographic area. Where I am LinkedCincinnati group on LinkedIn is a tremendous group for local professionals to interact.

Now monitor the conversations. Find one where you can naturally respond to the topic. Don’t promote your products or services. Consider this a ‘virtual’ cocktail part and you are mingling from one conversation to another. Just give what gems of wisdom you have to offer to the conversation. When you comment, LinkedIn will create a link to your profile so the reader has the opportunity to learn all about you, without you having to do all the talking. You should not expect to get immediate business. This is a relationship building environment. Over time, you will be known within the community and you will be sought out when your products or services are in demand.

What groups do you belong to? Have you developed new business relationships through your group involvement?
Please comment below, and feel free to list good groups you have found.
